North Hidden Barn

This Saturday we worked at a wedding in a really cute, small barn in Hungerford. As the name suggests we couldn't find it at first thanks to our not so trusty sat nav! As soon as we got in the barn we knew it would be a lovely evening, the decor throughout worked perfectly and the whole place had a really nice feel. We also knew it would be a fun evening; a section of the barn had been turned into a photo booth with loads of props and wigs (yes, of course we tried them on). We're sure the wedding album is going to be quite amusing!

The cute little purple lantern lights you can see in the photo (left were spread throughout the barn and were a really nice change to the typical fairy lights you usually see!

The centre-pieces were a bit different at this wedding, we very much approved! Each table had a wooden bucket with different gins in the centre surrounded by a ring of beautiful flowers. Around each centre-piece were individual tonics so each guest could have a gin and tonic - great idea! The table plan was really unique, it consisted of hand drawn pictures of the gins on the tables which acted as the table numbers, it was really clever!

As you can see in this photo there were curtains all the way down the barn which gave the room a really romantic atmosphere, all in all the whole place looked so lovely.

The bride and groom rocked up in this little vintage car, such a good wedding car! One of our favourite parts of the wedding!

Now for one of the most important parts of the day - FOOD. We really liked the menu at this wedding, we hadn't seen it before, it was Spanish themed starting with tapas for canapes. The canapes looked amazing on the wooden boards and included spanish meats, calamari, ham and cheese croquettes and patatas bravas! As you can imagine they were very popular. The main course was paella which Mark and Kev cooked in huge paella dishes with lots of sea food and other very very yummy ingredients!

The evening was definitely a success and every one clearly enjoyed themselves, towards the end of the evening the bar opened and the evening guests joined the bride and groom's special day!

Templar's Barn

This Saturday we worked at such a lovely wedding, everything went so well and looked so good! There was a vintage/up-cycled theme to this wedding which is the kind of thing we love. Sometimes when a wedding follows this theme it can be a bit too girly and you end up feeling a little sorry for the groom but this couple got it spot on! The barn itself is quite small and is perfect for shabby chic weddings, as you can see in the photo.

They had pretty bunting all around the barn which is so easy to make yourself and looks really good, you can use whatever fabric you want to! Bunting is a really good way to decorate a wedding without spending loads of money; you can buy it pre-made quite cheaply, but it's cheaper to make yourself! The rafters provide a really good place to hang lights and other decorations too. This couple opted for big bulbed string lights that gave off a really nice ambience during the meal and evening entertainment.

We loooved the tables. They were set up really differently and the flowers were the best we'd seen yet! They were meadow flowers and grasses in a painted tin jug which looked really natural. Everything on the table was rustic and basic which all together looked perfect! This was the first time we'd seen the cutlery all together in a vessel rather than laid out on the table which made the tables looked much more tidy and added to the rustic feel, we loved it!

The cutlery was great for the hog roast buffet we served, the chefs made a selection of salads including a pea and feta salad which always goes down well! We're pretty certain there were a few who had thirds...(our kind of people!)

The vintage theme carried on throughout the wedding - even during reception drinks! They had what looked like a massive sweetie jar with a tap built into it filled with their chosen cocktail which we made with cloudy lemonade and vodka, it looked so good!

The couple even worked their shabby chic magic into their dessert. Rather than having a wedding cake, they asked some guests to bake and create their signature puds. There were big rustic meringues, sponges full to the brim with cream and jam and chunky rocky road slices. Our mouths were watering.

All in all, a great wedding!

Ufton Court Wedding

On Friday we worked at a wedding at Ufton Court, most of the weddings we work at our here, we love it! What we didn't love Friday was the weather - it was absolutely chucking it down.

Luckily the drinks reception was held in the archer's hall but taking canapés up to the guests was very wet and that was Rebecca's job!

We really liked the colours at this wedding, it was all pale blues and the bridesmaids had beautiful cream lace dresses with pale blue nails, it was really unique. The grooms-men all had pale blue ties which looked really nice, we like a pale tie! It's nice to come away from tradition sometimes.

The bouquets of flowers around the barn were so pretty, some of the nicest we've ever seen. The whole theme really worked and the day went really well. Our favourite part was the cheese tower, decorated by The Pot Kiln Anywhere chefs with exotic fruit and nuts. We think cheese towers are such a fun and good idea, especially when they're decorated as well as ours!

You'll have to excuse some of our photos - Some are taken on our phones so when the weather is bad so are our photos!

Tea Party Wedding

This is a short post about a wedding we worked at last weekend. The wedding's theme was 'tea party' so the wedding breakfast was a selection of sandwiches and cakes on vintage cake stands. Instead of wine and water on the tables the couple wanted coffees and teas which looked very shabby chic!

The cake table was amazing as you can see above with old fashioned typewriters as decoration and bunting on top of some of the cakes. Belly Button Boo were the stylists for this wedding and were perfect for the event, everything was done so well and they were really friendly. Check out their website by clicking on the link, they're awesome!

Wasing Woodlands Wedding

So here's our first post, we work for a catering company called The Pot Kiln Anywhere. A few weeks ago we were asked to cater for a wedding in the woods.

When we got there we found out the wedding breakfast was being served in a yurt, which we'd never done before! It was all very bohemian with a lot of feathers and gems dotted around the tables.

A lot of ducking under doorways was involved, but luckily the couple had asked for a buffet so table service wasn't an issue. Us Pot Kiln girls are pretty short so we were left with the job of serving the tables in the tiny rooms that came off the main tent where the guests were sat on cushions!

All their food was vegetarian which is quite rare but the couple decided as they were vegetarian, everyone else could be for their big day. The chefs made big bowls and platters of lentils, sweet potato salad, salmon and pea salad with feta! You could tell every one was eager to get in the buffet queue.

This is one of the alcoves that came off of the main tent... as you can see it is a little on the cosy side but the style came before convenience with these guests and they all seemed excited to be there!

Each table decoration was carefully thought out by the bride who was wearing hippy chic - a lace wedding dress coupled with a crochet bolero with a peace sign on the back!

The theme was spread throughout the tent and woods with dream catchers, Moroccan lanterns and peace signs hanging off of various trees (which many of us caterers bumped our heads on).

Feathers, flowers and gems were scattered as table decorations with hand decorated candles and ceramic elephants.

The event finished with an open bar, a folk band who have performed at Glastonbury and a table of evening food. The Pot Kiln Anywhere served vegetarian bagels; salmon and cream cheese, humus and salad, and goats cheese. Guests drank by the camp fire until early hours of the morning then retired to their tents in the woods!
