Wasing Woodlands Wedding

So here's our first post, we work for a catering company called The Pot Kiln Anywhere. A few weeks ago we were asked to cater for a wedding in the woods.

When we got there we found out the wedding breakfast was being served in a yurt, which we'd never done before! It was all very bohemian with a lot of feathers and gems dotted around the tables.

A lot of ducking under doorways was involved, but luckily the couple had asked for a buffet so table service wasn't an issue. Us Pot Kiln girls are pretty short so we were left with the job of serving the tables in the tiny rooms that came off the main tent where the guests were sat on cushions!

All their food was vegetarian which is quite rare but the couple decided as they were vegetarian, everyone else could be for their big day. The chefs made big bowls and platters of lentils, sweet potato salad, salmon and pea salad with feta! You could tell every one was eager to get in the buffet queue.

This is one of the alcoves that came off of the main tent... as you can see it is a little on the cosy side but the style came before convenience with these guests and they all seemed excited to be there!

Each table decoration was carefully thought out by the bride who was wearing hippy chic - a lace wedding dress coupled with a crochet bolero with a peace sign on the back!

The theme was spread throughout the tent and woods with dream catchers, Moroccan lanterns and peace signs hanging off of various trees (which many of us caterers bumped our heads on).

Feathers, flowers and gems were scattered as table decorations with hand decorated candles and ceramic elephants.

The event finished with an open bar, a folk band who have performed at Glastonbury and a table of evening food. The Pot Kiln Anywhere served vegetarian bagels; salmon and cream cheese, humus and salad, and goats cheese. Guests drank by the camp fire until early hours of the morning then retired to their tents in the woods!
